In this session, three Chicago food and beverage leaders will talk about how they got past the stigma associated with networking and started asking people for help. They’ll share a view that networking is more than attending cocktail parties: it’s about people finding and sharing value with each other. 

And for you networking pros, our panel will reveal their secrets for taking their relationship building to a whole new level, even during COVID!  

Joining us in-person? You will have to opportunity to sample some delicious items from Farmers Fridge! Virtual attendance option is also available.

A seasoned food industry professional with more than 15 years of experience, Angela founded the Females in Food Community to reshape food and beverage (F&B) into a sector that welcomed and celebrated the advancement of women into leadership positions. Beyond establishing Females in Food, Angela is an involved, dedicated and experienced F&B professional who understands that the best way to bring about real, systemic change is through active sector participation. She brings a wealth of industry knowledge and an entrepreneurial edge to her current role as Senior Director of New Market Development for Solecta, a California startup that helps companies capture untapped value in their process separation through advanced membrane technology. Her most notable contributions include commercializing new bakery products for major grocery retailers as a Food Scientist and serving as a Key Account Manager and trusted advisor to global CPG brands while working for Symrise and Cargill.


Michelle HaywardCEO, Bluedog Design

Michelle is an American businesswoman, Board Director, Entrepreneur, Author, and CEO. Herself, along with an incredible team of leaders, has grown BLUEDOG into an established marketing and growth consultancy in Chicago. Michelle actively consults and collaborates with C-suite executives on leadership effectiveness, culture change, organizational growth strategies. Her network is a resource for recruiting top executives. 


Shari Matras, Chief Growth Officer, Jelmar 

Shari has over 20 years of experience leading businesses, marketing, and sales, as well as identifying and building innovation pipelines for large and small companies. Her deep marketing and innovation expertise includes developing ideas for Millennials, Adults, and Kids and she has thoroughly explored the nutrition space through her work leading global innovation for PepsiCo’s Global Nutrition Group.  Shari also led the launch of notable brands such as Orbit Gum, Orbit White Gum, Gevalia Kaffe Roast & Ground Coffee, K-Cups for Maxwell House and Gevalia, as well as new platforms to rejuvenate existing brands such as Quaker’s Breakfast Snacking platform, and Tropicana Juice with Probiotics and other functional juices.  Currently Shari is Chief Growth Officer for Jelmar LLC, a mid-sized Household Cleaning Products company where she leads the Marketing and Sales teams across the Retail, B2B, and eCommerce business units where she has focused on creating equity for the CLR (CLeaR) brand, a pipeline of innovation, and executing sell into customers to build generational growth for CLR and Jelmar.

CoLaboratory is located east of the intersection of W Lake St & N Racine Ave, we are in the heart of the West Loop at 1210 W Lake St, Chicago, IL 60607.

  • Street Parking: Both metered & free street parking are available on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Metered: Metered street parking can be found generally to the east and south of CoLaboratory
  • Free: Free street parking is limited but can generally be found on the surrounding blocks including Lake St., Racine St., Fulton St., and others north and west of CoLaboratory. Be sure to check street signs to avoid parking tickets, as signage for construction work changes often
