The Taste of Innovation  - CFBN’s premier innovation event for the calendar year - has a whole new look and an interactive virtual format for 2020! 

Join us - and dive into the trends and insights that are shaping food today with a look to where “taste” is headed in the future!

9:00 - 10:15 am: Changing Tastes & Innovations 2020 Opening Panel

  • Datassential’s “Sneak Peak” of their Top "9" Taste Trends - Kelley Fechner, MBA - Director of Customer Solutions
  • And, “Changing Tastes & Innovations 2020” a candid conversation with Kelley Fechner of Datassential, Jeff Grogg of JPG Resources, and Chef John Draz of The Miniat Companies and the Research Chefs Association around the changes brought on by COVID and how it has impacted trends in food, packaged goods, and food service over the first half of 2020 and where it is headed for the second half of 2020.

10:15 - 11:15 am:  Our 1st ever Virtual Tasting Panel & Tasting Box

  • We are bringing the Top "9" Taste Trends right to you - each registered attendee will have the option of picking up a “Tasting Box” (or having it shipped if registered in advance) with product samples representing the "9" big trends our experts are discussing throughout the event.  Then, you can sample along with our distinguished panel of expert judges and chefs from around the industry to learn how these products represent and embrace the top taste trends.

Break-Outs Option 1: 

  • Virtual Break-out Sessions - Interactive presentations from Datassential & JPG Resources with an opportunity for direct Q&A and conversation after each one!

    • 11:15 - 12:35:   Datassential's Top "9" Trends of 2020 

    • Don't miss Datassential's Kelley Fechner sharing her "Top 9" of the next food trends...like functional foods!  Missing Foodscape this year?  This is your opportunity to hear the top trends, innovations, and hot products that will shape tastes and products headed into 2021!  Kelley will also look at the "Covid effect" - how trends have been both hindered and accelerated due the impacts of COVID on both our tastes and our industry!

    • 12:35 - 2:00:  JPG Resources's Taking Trends to the Shelf - The Changing Pathway of New Ideas, Needs, and Tastes

    • JPG will host a group discussion among several of its food industry experts in areas like product development, supply chain and brand strategy to walk through how the journey that trends take to find their way into packaged goods is changing, and what this could mean for those looking to leverage them.  As part of this discussion, they will spotlight some of the current trends as real-life case studies to illustrate the impacts of these evolving pathways.

  • "EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION" - Pre-register before August 19th

  • $25 Member/ $50 Non-Member:  Pre-Register before August 19th to receive a discount off registration and have your Tasting Box shipped to you anywhere in the greater Chicago area! (*There is an additional $5 shipping charge for boxes being shipped out of the state of IL).
  • STANDARD REGISTRATION - All registrations 8/20 or later!

  • $30 Member/$60 Non-Member:  All registrations after August 20th will receive an email to confirm their pick-up date and location for their tasting box in advance of the event.  

Notes:

  • All pre-registered attendees will receive access links at least 48 hours in advance of the event to all event sections to allow them to choose and move about the offerings.  If you do not receive your links within 24 hours of the event, please contact Brianna (brianna@chicagolandfood.org) for assistance.

  • If you are receiving a Tasting box via shipment (ie you have registered prior to 8/19) please make sure you include a full mailing address with your registration.  If you do not, your box will be held for pick-up.
