For many of us in the Chicagoland area and beyond, our "new normal" might mean working from home or looking for a new role.  And, with most events taking place on virtual platforms, networking and connecting with industry professionals is a real challenge!  That is why CFBN has created this virtual networking opportunity just for our members - to help us all find a way to engage, catch-up, and find new opportunities in our Network!

Networking to share with others how they have built relationships that have been instrumental in building their careers. Learn how to build relationships with recruiters to develop your career and build top performing leadership teams. 

Table 4 - Facilitator:  Ed Yuhas, Topic: Opportunities in Pet Food

Kincannon & Reed research shows that many of us have little knowledge of career opportunities in the recession-proof sector of pet food.  The networking at this table will address questions about the pet-food sector as well as an understanding of where to seek opportunities.

Consumers are interested, companies are scrambling to be the first to market. Paul Izenstark, along with a sector executive will facilitate a networking session to help us understand more about this segment of the food industry as well as the upcoming talent needs.

Sally Day, Managing Director, Kincannon & Reed

A certified executive coach and search professional, Sally brings more than 25 years of industry experience as a senior leader working for well-known consumer food companies, including The J. M. Smucker Company, Unilever, Keebler, and Nestle. Sally’s tenure in organizational strategy, development, and leadership provide an unmatched experience when coaching executives or working with clients to identify and assess future talent.   

As an executive coach, Sally has been described as versatile and high-energy with an engaging style and approach that puts her clients first. She considers herself a student of resonant leadership with a thirst for life-long learning and a supporter of the personal and professional growth of others.

Sally has a career’s worth experience in hiring, coaching, and mentoring. Along with an MBA from Kent State University, Sally completed her GPCC (Gestalt Professional Certified Coach) at the prestigious Gestalt Institute of Cleveland, an accredited International Coach Federation organization. Sally has a Certificate in Executive Coaching from Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University and is certified in the Hay Group Emotional & Social Competency Inventory (ESCI) leadership assessment. She is a BCC (Board Certified Coach) through the Center for Credentialing and Education and is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) with the International Coaching Federation. Over the years, Sally’s client base has included c-suite executives and high potential leader.

Paul Izenstark, Managing Director, Kincannon & Reed

Paul focuses on recruitment of senior roles across all segments within the Consumer-Packaged Goods industry, specializing in health & wellness and plant-based products.  Paul has a background in integrated marketing and communication strategy with a strong emphasis in CPG within traditional, digital, mobile, social, influencer, and experiential platforms. His 30-year career includes significant integrated marketing program development expertise for companies such as Nestlé USA, Nestlé Waters, Dole Food Company, Kraft Foods, The California Avocado Commission, IHOP, and California Pizza Kitchen.

Paul will be facilitating a networking session specific to helping all of us understand opportunities in the plant-based foods and alternative proteins segment, a fast-growing segment in the food industry.  

Paul holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in business administration (marketing) from the University of Southern California, USA. He is a guest lecturer at UCLA – Brand Management.

Lisa Johnson, Managing Director, Kincannon & Reed

Lisa specializes in recruiting and succession assignments for the firm’s clients seeking general managers, presidents, and CEOs, as well as senior functional executives in marketing, sales, finance, business development, R&D and food safety.

Prior to joining Kincannon & Reed, Lisa was a partner at Global Food Partnership that advised food manufacturers and retailers around the world in strategies for bringing new products to market along with global best practices to help clients optimize production methods for increased productivity and profitability.  A serial entrepreneur, Lisa started her first company – a healthy fast-food restaurant in downtown Chicago – at the age of 27.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri. As a longtime member of Chicago’s food manufacturing scene, Lisa volunteers on the Board of CFBN and Rivendell Theatre.

Paul Miller, Managing Director & Global Lead - Food & Ingredients, Kincannon & Reed

Paul leads Kincannon & Reed’s Food & Ingredients practice, and engages with start-ups, family businesses, coops, private equity portfolio companies, and public companies. His clients benefit from his extensive experience as a senior executive and entrepreneur in food processing.

Paul will bring an industry wide view and share his perspective while facilitating a discussion to understand other experiences and opportunities in our ever-changing industry. 

Paul serves on the Board of the Independent Bakers Association. He holds an MBA degree from Harvard Business School, an MS in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University, and a BS in Agricultural Economics from Cornell.

Ed Yuhas, Managing Partner, Kincannon & Reed

Ed brings more than 30 years of experience to Kincannon & Reed clients in the food, lawn and garden, and companion animal/pet food categories, primarily in consumer-packaged goods. Recently Ed led an extensive insights project understanding overall career satisfaction and opportunities in the pet-food industry. 

Prior to joining Kincannon & Reed, Ed led sales organizations and was a general manager with responsibility for plant operations, quality assurance/food safety, R&D, finance, and human resources. He has worked for a broad range of companies, from private equity-backed startups to Fortune 500 firms including Mars, Inc., Nestle USA, Spectrum Brands, Borden, and Aurora Foods.

Ed holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Delaware and an MBA in Marketing from Drexel University, Philadelphia.
